Civil Construction / Council Infrastructure / Electrical Infrastructure / Retaining Walls and Anchoring.
Martin Civil Construction construct a range of precast and poured onsite concrete structures and take pride in achieving both accuracy and a high standard of finish.
We have expertise in the construction of concrete raft pad and piled foundations for a range of applications. From small equipment stands to heavy bearing structures and abutments, Martin Civil Construction can design and deliver a solution to suit your project.
Martin Civil Construction have vast experience and specialized equipment enabling us to carry out specialized grouting techniques to achieve soil stabilisation for ground improvements, void filling of sink holes, tomos, fissures and under runners as well as annulus void grouting and tube-a-manchette grouting to improve uplift resistance of bridge structures and foundations.
We achieve the above using traditional neat cement grouting or in some cases, where suitable, utilizing Canterbury Foam Concrete and it’s light weight, low strength and extremely fluid foam concrete {well known in their local industry as Foamcrete} Canterbury Foam Concrete call this product THERMOFILLTM.
Our drainage services include stormwater and wastewater drainage, water reticulation, de-watering installation, private and public drainage, and soakage systems. Whatever your requirements Martin Civil Construction can create a solution to your drainage problem, using a range of specialised equipment and techniques. Where necessary, we use our CCC approved drain layers to ensure the systems are constructed to a quality that is acceptable from local councils.
We have extensive experience in dewatering using WellPoint dewatering systems. The process allows the ground water table to be lowered on construction sites to enable deep drainage, underground structures, and foundation works. The environment is of high importance to us, we therefor regularly test and monitor any dewatering discharge to ensure we keep our environmental impact to a minimum so not to disturb the surrounding eco systems. We have extensive experience in dewatering a in a variety of ground conditions in Canterbury and surrounding regions. (See Riccarton Road / Quaifes Road Project Pages).
Martin Civil Construction has the specialty knowledge and expertise in sewage treatment plants and water reticulation systems including pump installations, upgrades, and screen structures.
Our experienced civil construction team have worked on many different and dynamic projects which have involved various sheet piling configurations. We can install sheet piles at 4,6,8 and 9m in length(depth) in an array that suits the project conditions. Our engineers and plant operators work closely together through all stages of the sheet piling process to ensure we create a safe and secure workplace.
Martin Civil Construction value safety of our people and on our sites above all else, which led us to the purchase of a MOVAX side grip pile driver. This machine minimises the need for manual handling or assisted machinery, making sheet pile handling, pitching, driving and extraction less labour intensive and more precise. We can work within a variety of site and soil conditions using the MOVAX which is especially suitable when limited space or access is available or there are overhead services to contend with.
We can provide certified anchoring solutions including Manta Ray and Sting Ray Earth Anchors and Soil Nails for the support of retaining walls. Martin Civil have experience in retaining wall construction including timber pole, gabion basket, anchored shotcrete and concrete block.
We provide certified soil and rock anchors for a range of applications including retaining walls, uplift tie down and emergency soil stabilisation by overburden removal, pore-pressure dewatering and manta ray anchors.
Shotcrete is a sprayed concrete used in conjunction with rock and soil anchor systems. This provides immediate reinforced ground support for applications such as underground tunnel openings, rock slope stabilisation and the protection of bridge abutments.
Soil nails are steel reinforcing bars inserted and grouted into place. Applications include the reinforcement of soil slopes, excavations and retaining walls.
MCC were fortunate enough to work closely with the SCIRT Alliance on the construction and upgrading of a number of water and wastewater pump and lift stations around the Christchurch area. The most recent of which involved the installing of a new pressure main and gravity pipes, a large bifurcation chamber, a new generator building as well as the upgrade of the existing main pump station building. Our multi discipline capabilities allow us to provide a turnkey approach for the client.
Martin Civil Construction is highly experienced working within the High Voltage Electrical Industry. Our fully trained team is familiar with the safety procedures, rules and regulations associated with working in the restricted access environment. We are often called upon for jobs throughout the South Island due to our experience and qualifications for working in these high-risk areas.
From small Neutral Earthing Resistor (NER) foundations through to 220kV Transformer foundations with blast walls, Martin Civil Construction can construct all aspects of the civil infrastructure within the electrical environment including Switchroom Buildings and related infrastructure. From tilt slab to block work our buildings are custom built to suit the electrical requirements of each substation.
With staff who have a sound understanding of their environment both above and below ground, our operators work closely with local electrical contractors to ensure trenching and civil works are completed safely, treating all cables as live. Our off-site building team can produce pre-cast trenches and foundations which are then placed on site to improve efficiencies during outages as well as improving safety.
